Eleven students benefited from the bank’s first work-study program which lasted from July 11th – August 19th, 2022. The students who came from the Pure Master’s Academy and Covent Garden Secondary School were given the opportunity to learn some of the basics of banking. The students were grateful for their experience and said that it taught them discipline and how to operate in a professional working environment. Some of them expressed an interest in wanting to work for the bank as they felt empowered and wanted to contribute to the success of GBTI.

This is the bank’s way of providing an introduction to the world of work for the students while at the same time being positioned as part of the Bank’s CSR initiatives. The bank is known for their work in providing spaces that allows youths to express themselves through art such as the GBTI Calendar Competition, or to use exercise their creativity by taking part in the bank’s Early Savers Summer Camp. The bank has also opened its Tennis Courts in the Diamond Branch to allow for the Guyana Tennis Association to mentor youngsters in that area and to develop their tennis skills further.

The GBTI Work-Study program will become an annual feature for the bank as we continue to provide opportunities for our young people to develop as we nurture their strengths as we “See Guyana Through Your Eyes”.
