Reconciliation & Analytics Clerk
SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Reconciliation & Analytics Clerk plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of the Bank’s financial information. The incumbent is responsible for executing data-driven reconciliation processes, maintaining high-quality financial schedules, monitoring economic indicators, and supporting analytical reporting for internal and regulatory needs. Leveraging digital tools, core banking systems, and emerging data technologies, the role ensures real-time visibility into financial positions while strengthening operational controls, compliance, and decision support. This position contributes to a future-ready finance function by promoting data accuracy, operational discipline, and continuous improvement.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare, maintain, and continuously enhance reconciliation reports for assigned areas such as Cash Blankets and Supervisor-designated general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy, data integrity, and timely financial visibility. This includes verifying ATM balances received from custodians, reconciling them against GL accounts, and actively following up on unresolved variances.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies by engaging with branches, the Cards Centre, and other internal and external stakeholders to ensure complete and accurate financial reconciliation.
- Update and maintain all supporting schedules related to reconciliations, ensuring all reports are reviewed, authorized, digitized, and archived in line with established governance standards.
- Update monthly expense schedules sourced from the core banking system and other financial platforms, ensuring completeness and reliability.
- Contribute to the preparation of departmental and branch budget updates, forecasts, variance analyses, and monthly financial performance summaries.
- Maintain accurate, current, and compliant financial records, ledgers, supporting documents, and reporting schedules.
- Support the preparation of monthly financial statements for branches to meet internal management and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Track, analyse, and summarize macro-economic indicators including inflation, GDP shifts, interest rate movements, and regulatory circulars to inform financial planning and insights.
- Prepare quarterly Comparative Commercial Bank Analyses using publicly available data sources, regulatory reports, and industry publications.
- Design and update charts, dashboards, and data visualizations to highlight financial and economic trends for management decision-making.
- Utilize the core banking system and other financial systems to extract, analyse, validate, and consolidate financial data for reconciliation and reporting.
- Collaborate with IT to resolve minor data or system-related issues, ensuring continuity and reliability of financial operations.
- Safeguard data integrity, accuracy, and completeness across all assigned reconciliations, schedules, and reports.
- Support internal and external audit exercises by preparing, validating, and submitting required schedules, reconciliations, and documentation.
- Coordinate with branches and internal teams to gather financial information, clarify discrepancies, and resolve outstanding items promptly.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of Bank and customer information and ensure full compliance with AML, KYC, FATCA, and all other regulatory requirements.
- Adhere to internal policies, procedures, financial controls, and security protocols at all times.
- Build effective working relationships across departments to facilitate smooth, accurate, and timely financial reporting processes.
- Escalate unusual transactions, suspected fraud, or data anomalies to the Supervisor or Compliance Officer as required by policy.
- Perform additional duties assigned by Management in alignment with operational needs and evolving financial reporting practices.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
- Five (5) CSEC passes including Mathematics, English, and Principles of Accounts.
- At least One (1) years’ experience in finance, accounting, bank operations, or reconciliation roles.
Knowledge/Skills and Abilities
- Strong analytical and numerical skills for identifying discrepancies, trends, and data irregularities.
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas) and comfort with financial systems or digital tools.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, general ledgers, and reconciliation methods.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in financial data and reporting.
- Effective communication skills for engaging with branches, IT, and internal stakeholders.
- Problem-solving and investigative skills for resolving variances and system-related issues.
- Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize tasks within a structured reporting cycle.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks, including AML, KYC, and FATCA.
- Adaptability and digital fluency to learn new systems, automation tools, and modern finance technologies.
- Strong ethical standards and confidentiality when handling sensitive financial and customer information.
REMUNERATION
- Experience using core banking systems (e.g., Flexcube or similar platforms).
- Exposure to general ledger processes, accounting entries, and financial reporting workflows.
- Experience preparing or reviewing reconciliations and financial schedules.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements applicable to Guyana’s financial sector (e.g., AML/CFT, FATCA).
- Practical experience working with Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet or data tools.
- Experience collaborating with branches or multi-department teams to resolve financial discrepancies.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment, preferably within banking or financial services.
